2012 CHALLENGE: Non-Fiction Non-Memoir Challenge

Okay  you guys, its that time of the year again..... READING CHALLENGES!!!  With all of my "good intentions" to complete my reading challenges for this year, I did horrible.  Nevertheless with a new year comes a clean slate.  I started the year in a reading slump, and just this fall have I gotten back on track with my reading habits.  So therefore here is the first reading challenge:

NON-FICTION NON-MEMOIR CHALLENGE
January 1 - December 31, 2012

The blog "My Book Retreat" is hosting a awesome challenge called the Non-Fiction Non-Memoir Challenge.  The major type of nonfiction a person read is memoirs.   I believe the blog who is hosting the challenge wanted to change that.  This is a great idea and it will challenge me to think outside of the box when it comes to nonfiction.

What Counts:
  • Books can be in any format.
  • Books can cover many different topics, including science, technology, religion, sociology, business, biography, politics, economics, history, food, art/design, etc.
  • Crossovers with other challenges are permitted.
What Does NOT Count:
  • Reference books, cookbooks and instruction manuals that are not meant to be read cover to cover
  • Essays and articles
  • How to, self-help or travel books that are not read cover to cover
  • Memoirs, journals and autobiographies
  • Books written for children
  • Re-reads don't count since the point is to learn something new
Levels:
  • Elementary - 5 nonfiction books
  • Diploma - 10 nonfiction books
  • Bachelor's Degree - 15 nonfiction books
  • Master's Degree - 25 nonfiction books
Details:
  • BLOGGERS: Write a starting post to state which level you will work towards and link it back to this post.  Listing a books is welcome, but is not required.  Link your post to the Linky.
  • READERS: If you do not have a blog, leave a comment under their post.
  • In order to be considered for the final giveaway, a warp up post will be required (bloggers).  If you are a reader, please provide a comment concerning your reading accomplishments.
For this particular challenge I will aim to complete level "Diploma" and my focus will probably be on history and religion books.
