Tuesday Teaser 12-6-11

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should be Reading.  Anyone can play along?  Just by doing the following:
  • Grab your current read.
  • Open to a random page.
  • Share two (2) "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page.
  • Share the title and author, so that other bloggers and readers can add the book to their "to read" lists.

Page 95 of Maya Angelou's "I Know Why The Cage Bird Sings": It was fortunate that I never saw her in the company of powhitefolks.  For since they tend to think of their whiteness an evenizer, I'm certain that I would have had to hear her spoken commonly as Bertha, and my image of her would have been shattered like the unmendable Humpty-Dumpty."

MA is getting lots of attention lately as the poet/wisewoman. Much deserved. I have not read "Caged Bird"--should.

My TT is for Diana Gabaldon's latest time travel novel, a Lord John Grey/Jamie Fraser story, "The Scottish Prisoner". Summit Musings
